The Tangible "Software"
2023 Oct-Dec Personal Project
This project introduces a tangible 'software' concept in the form of a gummy candy keyboard. Not only visually resembling a real keyboard, this playful device is fully functional, enabling computer use (e.g., playing Tetris), while offering the unique softness, flexibility, and deliciousness of gummy candy. The keyboard’s base is ingeniously constructed using a recycled number pad, transparent PVC sheets, and copper tape, while the conductive parts are made from edible gold foil, ensuring both functionality and an edible element.
This design promotes sustainability by incorporating biodegradable materials and aims to inspire wonder in everyday life, reimagining ordinary objects like keyboards through the use of unconventional, edible materials. It encourages users to engage with technology in a playful, sensory, and eco-conscious way, sparking curiosity and a sense of delight.
