Anti-Sedentary Robot
2021 June-July Collaboration Project
We conducted an exploratory study on a health-promoting technology for reducing sedentary behaviors in the library, called Anti-sedentary Robot, to help remind students to take slight-intensity exercise after a long-time sitting in the library. In this project, we designed and developed a robot-based system to explore a new mechanism approach as a public health intervention. The fitness task can be unconsciously carried out by returning books. Based on our prototypes, we evaluated the feasibility and effectiveness of the Robot through a user study with 18 students. We discuss implications for the future development of the Anti-Sedentary Robot system based on our qualitative and quantitative findings.
